(Nasdaq: POWI), a world leader in high-efficiency, high-reliability LED driver ICs, today introduced the LYTSwitchTM-1 single-stage, non-isolated buck LED driver IC family. The IC body is compact and can realize LED bulb and tube design with high constant current accuracy, and the number of components used is very small. Innovative driver algorithms guarantee high power factor (PF) and low total harmonic distortion (THD) while maintaining extremely high efficiency. The LYTSwitch-1 IC is available in a compact SO-8 package with efficiencies above 93% and PF greater than 0.9 and THD as low as 15%. The device can be used in low-side buck topologies to reduce EMI or can be used in high-side buck topologies to simplify design. This universal input (100 - 308 VAC) IC delivers up to 22 W of output without a heat sink and integrates a 725 V MOSFET for high reliability. Because the device uses a unique peak current control algorithm, designers can use small, commercially available inductors directly. The new device meets all applicable international standards, including DOE 6 (external power supply), CEC standards 20 and 24, ENERGY STAR® SSL, EN61000-3-2 (C), and related standards in China and India.
